NBNI Starts Off With a Bang!

New Balance Indoor Nationals

New Balance Nationals got a head start by opening their meet on Thursday and many Connecticut athletes made the trip up to The Track at New Balance in Boston. With quality performances happening in every heat, MySportsResults will do our very best compiling the results of all CT athletes over the four days in Massachusetts. Several CT athletes had big PRs in the Rising Stars and Freshman races and sent a message to the state to watch them in the future.

Thursday’s Freshman Races

The freshman races are a look at some possible future All State athletes. Notice Immaculate has the making of a solid SMR over the next couple of years and Xavier is adding some long sprinters to their already strong stable of returning distance runners. Ridgefield has only two seniors in their State Open runner up cross country team and they could be even better next year. Greenwich girls can probably score in the outdoor Class LL 4x400m with an all freshman team. In short, the future looks bright for CT track.

Thursday’s Rising Star Races

Consistency seems to be the key for East Lyme sophomore Sean McCauley who has run almost all of his races in the high 9:30s to low 9:40s over the 16 lap distance. New Fairfield showed why they were sixth at New Englands in cross country. All three Rebels had significant PRs in the 2-mile and Katie McMorrow set a PR in the freshman mile. E.O. Smith’s Alexis Buskey has evolved from a solid Class level scorer to a potential State Open scorer with her 23 second lifetime best.
